The Polaris RZR is one of the most recognized sport side by sides on the market. It has been around since 2008 and covers a wide range of performance levels, from approachable entry-level machines to high-output turbocharged models. If you are looking at a Polaris RZR rental and not sure which model fits your trip, this guide will sort it out.
We break down every model we carry, who each one is for, and what kind of terrain it handles best. By the end you will know exactly what to book.

Riders who know the model they want.
A lot of people search specifically for an RZR 900, XP 1000, or Turbo. This page tells you what is different about each one.
If you are a first-time rider, see our best UTV for beginners page before booking. The RZR 800 and 900 work well for newcomers. The XP 1000 and Turbo do not.
The RZR lineup is built around performance, not versatility. That is a good thing if it matches your trip type and a drawback if it does not.
The RZR is the right machine for specific kinds of trips. Here is where it shines.
The chassis and suspension are built for this. The RZR handles technical terrain better than a utility machine at the same price point.
The RZR Turbo and XP 1000 are the most popular choices for experienced riders at Glamis. The dunes reward confidence and smooth throttle control, and both machines have the suspension travel to handle big hits.
Half-day or full-day bookings where the goal is the drive, not the scenery.
If you want a comfortable family ride with cargo space, see our 4-seater page. The Ranger Crew and Defender MAX are better fits.
Here is a plain-language breakdown of each model, what it does well, and the kind of rider who should be booking it.
First-time RZR riders. The most forgiving machine in the lineup. Less power means more margin for error.
Most popular rental in our 2-seat fleet. Enough power to be fun and smooth enough to stay in control.
Riders with side by side seat time who want more performance. Noticeably sharper than the 900.
High-speed runs and open dunes. Requires confident, experienced inputs. Not a starting point.
Groups who want RZR performance with room for passengers.
Availability changes. If you have a specific model in mind, call us before you book and we will tell you what is ready to go.
Pricing varies by model, duration, and whether you are booking a weekday or weekend. Higher-performance models like the Turbo and XP 1000 run more per day than the 800 or 900. For a full breakdown, see our UTV rental pricing explained page.
A standard license works. No off-road endorsement needed.

The main differences are power and suspension travel. The RZR 900 puts out around 75 HP with 12 inches of travel. The XP 1000 puts out 110 HP with 15 inches of travel. The XP 1000 is noticeably faster and more demanding to drive. If you have spent time in a side by side before, the XP 1000 is a great step up. If you have not, start with the 900.
Yes, compared to the rest of the lineup. The Turbo makes 168 HP, which is a lot for an off-road vehicle. It rewards smooth, experienced inputs and can get away from a nervous driver quickly. We ask that riders have meaningful prior experience in a high-performance side by side before booking the Turbo.
Yes, on the right model. The RZR 800 and RZR 900 are both well-suited to first-time RZR riders. We will go over controls and basic technique before you head out. If it is your very first time in any kind of off-road vehicle, let us know when you book and we will point you toward the most forgiving option we have.
Yes. The RZR 4-seater fits four passengers and keeps the sport-focused feel of the standard RZR lineup. A good pick for experienced drivers who do not want to give up the RZR feel just because they have passengers along.
For experienced riders, the RZR Turbo is the most capable machine for open dunes. The RZR XP 1000 is a strong second choice. If you are newer to dune riding, the RZR 900 gives you enough power to enjoy the terrain without overwhelming you.
Helmets included. We will help you pick the right model if you are not sure.
